Finally made it to Louie's and I'm so glad I did! Great evening out with friends trying their pumpkin pizza (savory & delightful) and their special of the night which was a dreamy sweet potato ravioli. My favorite was the ice cream sandwich. Super different from what I expected in the best way possible. It was all phenomenal and we had the friendliest server! He was personable, efficient and all around a 10/10. On a Friday night it was comfortably loud with tables of people you could just tell were enjoying themselves. So glad we have such a gem in the Lou!

Louie was amazing! I would definitely recommend making a reservation and was so glad we were able to snag one on a Saturday night. My husband and I split the salsiccia pizza and the Bolognese pasta! I loved that they split the pasta dishes for us and that we got to try 2 different entrees! The focaccia to start was so airy and perfect with the olive oil. We ate every single bite. We split a bottle of wine and it was the perfect amount. I always judge a pizza based on the crust and their crust was soft and did not need any other sauces with it... that's when you know it's good! Luckily there is plenty of parking, so we didn't have an issue with this

Louie is an absolute gem in St. Louis. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting decor set the tone for an incredible dining experience. The service was impeccable--our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made great recommendations. We started with the wood-fired pizza, which was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of char. The pasta dishes were fresh and flavorful, and you could tell the ingredients were top quality. The seasonal vegetable sides were a nice touch, adding a light and delicious balance to the meal. The wine list is well-curated, and the dessert, especially the olive oil cake, was a perfect end to the night. Louie is the kind of place where every detail is thought out and you leave already planning your next visit. Highly recommend!

TL:DR - Probably the best Italian in St. Louis. Just west of Forest Park in the historic neighborhood of De Mun, you'll find Louie, an elegant Italian restaurant with a warm, inviting glow. Upon entry, you will be greeted by a friendly hostess who will ask if you have a reservation... let's hope you did or be prepared to wait! Assuming you are able to get a table--get ready for one of the best dinners you'll find in the city. The menu has a good variety of both delicate and robust dishes and is divided into three sections: starters, mains, and pizza. Dishes are executed with finesse and have a clear focus on fresh ingredients and in house preparation. Portions are large enough to satisfy but I'd recommend at least ordering a starter to share. No reason to provide meal recs as you could throw a dart blindfolded at the menu and hit something delicious and worth a try. Food is not the only star at Louie. The wine list is superb and has a wide selection of great options both by the glass and by the bottle. There is also a solid cocktail list featuring various base spirits from mezcal forward builds to crushable espresso martinis. I cannot comment directly on the waitstaff as I prefer to sit at the bar, but I've always had a great experience with the bartenders and I'm sure the rest of the staff is just as good! Overall, an absolute must visit whether you're planning a date, business dinner, or are just in the mood for some awesome food. Once again, don't forget the reservation!

MUST TRY ALERT! Every year I always go to an Italian restaurant for my birthday. Louie blew my socks off! I don't say this lightly, since I am always scoping out the best Italian restaurant to try. Service Exceeded expectations. When we walked in the host checked us in and notice I was celebrating a birthdays. She immediately gave me a celebratory cheer. Then when we met our server, she also wish me a happy birthday. Those small details matter! Liz was our server and all her recommendations were amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and what pairs best together. Check-in were just right and staff was attentive. Ambiance Such a cool vibe! The place was smaller but not crowded. Had a good patio seating out front and a variety of booth/tables for sitting. A great place to grab a drink after work, their bar was long and amazing. They keep the lighting moody and use natural light when they can. Food The one thing that impressed me the most was the innovative creations on the menu that tasted amazing!!!! I will say the uniqueness of the menu could be intimidating for someone who is use to the more traditional menu items but don't shy away. Every dish had high quality ingredients and flavorful. Here are our top favorites: Appetizer - Eggplant Dip (super unique and good!!!!) Pizza - Broccolini Pizza (sounds different but really great choice to balance out a meaty pasta) Main Course - Bolognese (the pasta choice was cooked perfectly with a light tomato sauce), and Desert - Ice Cream Sandwich (this will be the most sophisticated ice cream sandwhich you'll eat)

After a long day of work and a client event right after, my colleague suggested going to Louie. She was able to make a reservation for 9:30 but we were seated when we arrived at 8:50. I have only been to this place once and it was years ago, so I was excited to be back and try something new. While walking to our seats, I couldn't help but notice the mixture of aromas, all pleasant but piquant at the same time. This place is quaint and cozy but perfect for a nice dinner any day of the week. After browsing the menu, we decided to split an order of brussel sprouts and I chose the El Tigre for my cocktail. Each drink I've ever had with Mezcal has surprised me because aside from the smokiness, I never knew what to expect. This drink was perfect. It was smooth, not too smoky but perfectly balanced with the blood orange and lime. It also contains Angostura but I'm not sure I would have recognized it. Either way, it was super refreshing and I'd def. order it again. The brussel sprouts arrived after a little while and were just as I had hoped. Perfect char yet crispy, while seasoned with pecorino and lemon. I'm mad the picture I took came out blurry, because me telling you about them without seeing it doesn't do them justice. It was at that point we were given our complimentary bread and olive oil. Don't be deceived by the picture as it's a large block of bread! I'm unsure which seasonings they used on top but it def. has a kick, so beware. It's soft yet filling, so I'd suggest nibbling as to not get full before your entree. The olive oil was light and fresh and paired well with the bread, so well that I didn't even bother to ask for my normal balsamic and parm to accompany it. After we finished those, our entrees came. This was my first time ever eating Chitarra and I'm happy to announce it was a winner! The server said the chilli used for the sauce was Calabrian and does have a kick, so I opted for the smallest amount possible. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and had the perfect ratio of sauce to noodle. Lest we forget the generous Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, not too much to over power the dish but enough to complement it in the best way. The tomato sauce was bright and robust, bursting with flavors and this was the first time I could taste how fresh the tomatoes were. That def. made a difference. Since it was late, I only got a few bites and boxed the rest. It was probably best I tapped out when I did because I was still salivating over the brussel sprouts and the bites of pasta I had. By then, our server came and brought a dessert menu but we both declined. This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. The service was superb from start to finish and the ambiance was on par with everything you'd expect. I can't wait to come back.

The most perfect birthday dinner! Every single staff member was beyond kind. They all wished me happy birthday and I was amazed how they all knew. The service started off with focaccia bread and oil and it was so pillowy soft and delish. We both ordered wine and cocktails and they were great. Our server told us the pasta was handmaid so we knew we had to try it. The pasta was soft and the sauce was incredible. They surprised us with a chocolate torte for my birthday which was so sweet and it was amazing. Parking was super easy, they have tons of street parking. Inside dining is moody and dark which is perfect for a date night. It's not loud in there either so makes for good conversation. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I already can't wait to go back

Fantastic spot! The ambiance is top tier- great music, excellent service, and all around great vibe. Stopped in for a reservation last night for our girls night and our server (Courtney I believe) was an absolute doll. The drinks were wonderful- try their espresso martini and thank me later. For apps we had the eggplant dip, Brussel sprouts and burrata pizza. They were all delicious. The pizza was chewy and fresh- about 7 slices. Brussels had Parmesan I believe and a lemony flavor- so good. Eggplant dip came with naan bread and was a great sharing app. They bring out complimentary foccacia bread with oil too and it's to die for. One huge piece per person! For entrees, most of us had the halibut special which was delicious. Others had the pasta and loved them as well. All fresh and creative. For dessert, we had more espresso martinis (they are that good) and the ice cream sandwich dessert. It was a hit. Delicious and very creative! We will absolutely be back!
